Ganguro Fashion

Of all the fashion that you can see in this world, only one rules them all, one to triumph them all and one to conquer them all. It is called Ganguro fashion, the this fashion trend started to peak in popularity in 2000 on the streets of Tokyo. Young girls in their teens and 20s attempted to escape the constraints and confinement of Japanese society with bleach blonde hair, fake eyelashes, heavy black eyeliner, white lipstick and such. Consider it fashion overload and overkill, this fashion trend never quite die off and it is still prevalent in the streets of Tokyo today. Although I personally think that the title of "Fashion Overkill" should be crowned by the Yamanba a.k.a 'Mountain Hags'. Here's a video segment covered by BBC on this unusual japanese fashion called ganguro. But personally speaking, if this fashion ever take off in Singapore, I don't know whether I should be awed or feel 'scared'. You know, you walk down Orchard Road and decided to head to the nearest toilet located in the many shopping centres found on Orchard Road, and when you turn a corner, you come headlong into a Singaporean Ganguro girl and that is the time you should be thinking, "Do I scream in fright?" or "Do I scream in awe?"...
