Breakfast the Singapore way

My readers from overseas, especially USA, do you know how Singaporeans in the 1950s onwards useed to have breakfast in the morning? No, not those modern Singaporeans you see nowadays sipping cappuccino and latte, eating croissants and muffins at Starbucks or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf or even Delifrance. I meant the good old days during your parents or maybe grandparents time. Here's some photos I've taken which I would like to share with my readers on the simple days of yore, that is now currently being taken over by fast food restaurants and cafes. Hope you all enjoy and do leave me feedback of what you think of Singapore's breakfast choice of old, okay? I'll be looking foward to your comments and feedback.

Put 1 or 2 eggs into a container (please, a small one that's enough to hold that amunt of eggs that you want to eat) and pour enough boiling water to cover the egg(s).

Let the eggs cook in the boiling water for 9 or 10 minutes. Then take the eggs out of the container and using the edge of the spoon, give it a whack until you see a crack on it, like on the photo.

Empty the cooked egg(s) into a clean bowl and scrape whatever leftover stubborn egg eggs inside the egg shells into the bowl with a spoon.

Add a dash of white (powdered) pepper and light soy sauce to the eggs.

Mix everything up thoroughly. I use the back of the spoon to "squash" the chunky bits of egg yolk so that it seems like there is equal amount of egg whites and yolk to eat.

You can either eat it on its own or use bread as a condiment by dipping it into the bowl of eggs and then putting it into your mouth. Remember to chew before swallowing.

Now, repeat after me. "So, this is the Singapore style breakfast. So authentic."
