Mythical World Of Atlantis

Was Atlantis an island in the Mediterranean or in a volcanic lake in the Andes? Was it a continent in the Atlantic Ocean or a mountain in Antartica? Who were the Atlanteans, and where are their descendants today? Did their glorious kingdom perish in a cataclysm for which the Atlanteans themselves were somehow responsible? Are mysterious ancient ruins and artifacts scattered around the globe remnants of their advanced civilization? These and many other queations are examined in The Mythical World Of Atlantis, a comprehensive study of the legendary lost empire. Theories about Atlantis proposed by philosophers, historians and mystics through the ages take their place alongside the evidence revealed in Disney's newest feature. From Plato to Disney, from Jules Verne to Madame Blavatsky, readers will trace the routes of myth and history to discover the truth about earth's greatest culture: the lost empire of Atlantis. Revised and updated from the original 1915 edition by Preston B. Whitmore, this edition includes notes and an introduction by noted historian Professor Kyle Van Mitchell, director of the Preston B. Whitmore Archives.

That above is the summry of this book which I borrowed from the local neighborhood community library. I had actually loaned this book before but quickly returned it in a matter of days. No, it wasn't because this book wasn't interesting enough to capture my imagination or whatsoever. It was because during the time when I loaned this book out of the library, BoA had released a song called Atlantis, or something like that, and I thought it was quite rude to make a song out of it and whereby also pretending to be a princess of the Atlantis in the music video. It quite literally put me off that she would do something like that, to make use of history, to boost her own popularity. In a way, the music video was quite racist in my opinion that she was the only Asian while the rest of the cast in her music video were African-American and colored people. I mean, Atlantis is a great civilization regardless of whether it may or may not have existed and there is no way that "royalty" is Asian and the citizens of Atlantis were blacks or colored or anything that makes them look inferior. The music video could have been done more tastefully, in a sense that it showcased a make-believe Atlantis where it is brimming full of people doing their everyday chores and admist all the bustle and hustle is the princess or a girl of Atlantis (in this case, BoA) who is looking for true love. That to me, would truly be a remarkable piece of music video in history. That is the big reason why I returned this book and only loaned it back again after so many donkey years.

By the way, in real life, BoA is quite an airhead and a stuck up person. My friend once encountered her and approached her with some other girls for an autograph, but BoA simply pretended they were transparent and walked off. How's that for a pop superstar attitude??,
