Munchies and goodies for CNY, readily available at Chinatown. Also a gentle note, as the date gets nearer and nearer to Lunar Chinese New Year Eve, most of these will be sold cheaply too. Besides, if the shop vendors have way too much of their stocks left during CNY, it doesn't bode well, sales wise. So, yeah, they'll definitely lower the price somewhat. And if you happen to be visiting Singapore during CNY period and want to try some of these CNY goodies, that would also be a good time to lay your hands on these exotic CNY munchies, but watch the weight too.
In Chinese-speaking parts of Asia, these are called "muah chee". Soft and chewy with flavored fillings on the inside, and a well-loved snack too. (It goes well with tea!!) Same as most CNY foodstuffs, these might also be sold cheaply for the vendors to clear stocks. But since you don't necessarily need to eat them only during CNY season, the vendors might choose not to clear them off cheap, as they can sell these during normal season too!!
I have yet to visit Chinatown this year. So busy with blogosphere work.
ReplyDeleteTrue yah. Even though it's CNY in Singapore, it's also the same festive mood online too. Happy New Year, ECL!!!
