The Things We Do
1. Chillax - a combination of "chill" and "relax". Commonly used by the NUS-type as the new cool term, replcaing passe phrases like "hang out".
2. BlackBerry Prayer - the head-down, slightly-hunched position that is characteristic of a person using a BlackBerry.
3. Tanorexia - an obsession with maintaining a suntan.
4. Videophilia - a sedentary lifestyle centred upon screen-based activities, such as TV, Internet and computer games.
The Things We Say
5. ish - An estimate. For example: Let's meet at 10ish.
6. Backronyms - a term that refers to an acronym-type "explanation" of an ordinary words, often with humorous intent. For example, "army" is "aren't real men yet" and "worldwide web" is "wait wait wait".
The Way We Live
7. Nutrilious - describe something that is nutritious and delicious at the same time.
8. Thinspiration - the inspiration that skinny models provide to young women aspiring to be ultra-thin.
9. Latte factor - a term used by economists to describe the apparently insignificance daily purchases which can add up to significant expenditure over time.
The People We Meet
10. Shoulder-surfer - the irritating person peeking over you at the ATM machine.
11. Snoutcast - a person forced to smoke outdoors. A blend of snout (slang for "tobacco") and outcast.
12. Retrosexual - a man who spends as little time and money as possible on his appearance. The opposite of a metrosexual.
13. 419ers - an all-too-familiar type of cyvercriminal. (419 is the section number of the Nigerian penal code under which e-mail scammers are prosecuted in that country.)
The Things We Like
14. Fauxlex - a fake Rolex watch.
15. Smirting - smoking and flirting at the same time.
16. Vanity sizing - the practise of assigning smaller than actual sizes to clothes, so as to encourage sales.
The Things We Hate
17. Muffin top - a roll of fat just visible above a pair of low-waisted jeans.
18. Giraffiti - graffiti that is too high to reach (and clean).
19. Schmuggling - mugging through the school holidays.
20. Earworm - a catchy tune that you can't get out of your head.
