Bunko - 文庫

Ever wonder what the Bunko (boon-ko, not bunk-o) at the end of a Japanese publisher's name means? Well, wonder no more: Bunko = small paperback edition(s). Many Japanese publishers have a bunko division that issues inexpensive mass-market paperbacks of surprisingly high quality. They're printed on decent paper, small enough to fit in an average jeans pocket, and almost always come with dust jackets. In Japan, sometimes even manga gets reprinted in that format.
