Lift Upgrading Programme

Yes, the "dreaded" LUP (Lift Upgrading Programme) that is going on right now. The good part is that there will now be lifts on every level, and the bad part? They're doing the drilling and hammering and giving me more migraines than usual...

The Bangladeshi workers have already drilled away the old surface of the cement floor for some new glossy tiles. No, not like Changi Airport Terminal 3 where your undies will get flashed!!

The much anticipated lift, the other lift on the left has been dismantled. The other 2 new lifts on either side of the block are very prone to breaking down, one at a time...

Getting the tiles, sand and cement all ready and waiting at one corner...

The LUP started when I was still working at Pacific Coffee and those were the most irritating, sleep-deprived moments of my life. My boss really don't dare to let any staff take over the permanent graveyard (night) shift at the airport, especially at branches which sees a heavy morning/breakfast crowd. So, in other words, I became the "scapegoat" (read: trusted employee) and worked the nite shift while I sleep in the day. (No wonder my complexion looked like a ghost..) And basically, the workers can only do the drilling and hammering in the day-time, so my sleep was disturbed very greatly and I kept falling sick all the time. And lately, my mother found out that those residents who were living on the 6th and 11th floor need not pay a single cent for the LUP, whereas the rest of the residents who are not living on the 6th and 11th floor had to. And the reason? These 2 floors already had an existing lift in the first place, so residents who lived on the 6th and 11th floor are sort of "not considered" for the LUP programme. But nonetheless, they still have to use the lifts anyway. So, it should be fair that they should pay some sort of fee, albeit less than the rest of the residents who have to pay like brain-washed zombies. Damn, stupid government!!
