Heaven's Requiem

Requiem

Farewell to the blue hour
The umbrella that blocked the rain has abandoned me
Without being aware of the imminent summer
"Where am I, and who am I?"
I scream

Claiming there's no end to this
I stopped in my tracks
As if it's possible to know
I deny the sky

Without even being able
To walk out of the forest I built up
Why couldn't I break out?
Why didn't you do something?

Without having done anything
Over the dead bodies of those decayed
Now the blade of my impulse
Resonates through and break the world

Before the breaking dawn can catch up to me
It doesn't matter if it's a ragged broken sound
It's just a requiem from Heaven

Why did I remain stagnant?
Why did I keep denying?
Right at the end of my worries
Casting away the sound of those crazily blooming

As beautiful as it could be
Pierce me with that sound
That is wavering amidst the bubbles
Just like a requiem from Heaven

As the blooming leaves decorates the world
I hurriedly run along
Before the breaking dawn catches up
Shouting out the sound that has reached it's peak

Along to the requiem of Heaven.

Sapporo and Ramen

Note that this post is about me making a Sapporo Style Ramen from pre-packed ingredients bought at a Supermarket while at the same time incorporate a dissing section about Ramen Play's outlet in JEM at Jurong East. Probably contains more dissing than I can possibly imagine, I think..

Personally, I've been a fond lover of Ramen, especially Japanese Ramen. Although I found that the choices in Singapore are mostly centered around Ajisen. Hence, a few years back, I was pleasantly surprised to find that NTUC in Singapore was starting to stock up on Japanese Ramen. Just right before the K-crap wave took over Singapore with an unrelenting storm.

Sapporo Style Ramen
I saw this Sapporo Style pre-packed ramen pack in the supermarket and has been constantly and consistently buying this on a regular basis. Until they suddenly stopped bringing it in. I think it's probably because of poor sales but I like to simply blame it on the K-crap wave instead. Ironically, the moment K-crap became more and more popular in Singapore, there seemed to be less and less J-drama and more and more K-drama instead. They even stopped broadcasting the After Dinner Mysteries in favor of showing more K-related crap on television. Let's just say, I was so disgusted with the amount of K-crap on television that I've actually stopped watching television for a good 7 to 8 years now. And will continue to do so until they split 50-50 between J-drama and K-drama.

Sapporo Style Ramen
Anyways, I went worth and brought the ingredients I wanted in my Sapporo Style ramen. These include those pink-and-white Japanese fish cake, which strangely enough didn't exactly taste fish-like while the Singapore/Asian-based fish cakes tend to taste more like fish. And not forgetting prawns. I've been eating prawns with a vengeance ever since knowing that my prettier, luckier, and married earlier than me cousin is allergic to prawns. Muahaha?

Sapporo Style Ramen
And not forgetting the hard-boiled egg, of course. The soup was marvelous, the ingredients made my feel like I'm eating ramen fit for a king despite looking lacking in appearance. Oh the soup~~

Fast forward to a few years ago, when Ramen Play had it's first flagship store in Singapore. And more outlets followed since. And I sort of made a promise to myself how I would one day try the ramen in Ramen Play and luckily for me, there was an outlet in JEM Jurong East.

Ramen Play JEM
As shown in the photo above, this is how the Ramen Play store in JEM Jurong East looked like.

So, one fine day when I was off-duty from work, I decided to pop down to JEM at Jurong East for some window shopping and with the possibility of trying at least 1 ramen from Ramen Play. But I was sorely disappointed through and through and didn't even get to step foot inside the ramen shop at all. I even purposely chose the after-lunch timing so I won't have to jostle for seating space with those office crowd people, whom I like to believe are leftover ghosts and spirits who have forgotten to went back through the Gates of Hell after the Lunar Seventh Month Hungry Ghost festival. The reason for such a description? They come out in troves, hogged all the seats available and take their own damn sweet time to eat. And to top it off, sitting on an office chair for close to between 8 to 10 hours a day are so tiring that their feet will break and snap like twigs if they so much as stand on a crowded bus on their way home after work.

Which ultimately makes retail staffs, be they part-time or full-time superheroes since they stand between 8 to 10 hours a day at work, probably only get 1 off day to rest per week, which happens not to fall on weekends and public holidays. And yet can still maintain a smiling face to greet obnoxious office workers who acted like they are as rich as the Queen of England when in fact, they still have to pay their credit card bills plus interests towards the end of every month when they get their paycheck.

So, back to the topic at hand.

It was past lunch-crowd hour, when there was not a single office worker lurking around in the ramen shop. I was standing at the entrance, looking at the menus on display, wondering which ramen should I buy and try. And I purposely took 10 to 15 minutes in doing so. And while I was doing just that, the cooks were busy preparing their stocks for the upcoming dinner crowd, which was normal since I used to work in an F&B environment. There is just so much to prepare, and yet so little time to ensure everything is sufficient. Oh, the irony of "time".

The lone cashier was staring at the empty wall, at least 3 metres away from her. It was as if she has an invisible friend standing at the exact distance away, playing "peek-a-boo" and "see-me-if-you-can" games. I'm pretty sure that JEM isn't haunted, no matter how much I thought about it. The space which JEM occupied used to be an empty patch of green field during the 1990s, and was only recently bought and built into the existing JEM around this year.

The 2 servers working there, were simply too engrossed in chatting with each other. Oblivious to the fact that there's a human standing at their shop's entrance, obvious thinking what ramen is best. Servers, sometimes I hated their existence. They have to presume the fact that not everyone has been to their shop before and hence the patron will not know whether they have to wait at the entrance before being showed to a seat or that the patron can simply waltz in like a clumsy gazelle and chose a seat of their liking.

In short, the servers should actually try to make contact with me, a possible paying consumer. And by doing so, make me go from a "maybe" to a "definitely" customer. Or to put in simply, "maybe I would eat at this place" to "I would definitely want to eat at this place" kinda concept. But noooooooooooo....

All of them were desperately trying their hardest to pretend I wasn't standing in front of their entrance. Cooks were very engrossed in preparing for the dinner crowds so much so, none of them could point out to the cashier or servers that I was standing at the entrance, wondering if I should wait to be seated or something.

Cashier was desperately staring at an empty wall 3 metres away, refusing to turn her head in any direction to see if a patron is in distress of some sort. Such as wondering if she should wait to be seated or something.

And the servers! Damn servers were desperately trying to be engrossed in a conversation that is probably lame, since one of the servers was facing my direction and could see that I was at the entrance, wondering if I should wait to be seated or something.

In short, I felt disgusted with the staffs at Ramen Play. Note that during lunch crowd, you have obnoxious office workers who just don't give a shit whether they should wait to be seated. They can simply play dumb and barge in the the hopes of finding an empty seat fast. Dinner crowd mostly consists of families, who will pretty much behave exactly the same way too. Proper customers are left standing at the entrance, unsure of the shop's culture in whether one should wait at the queue line to be seated or just walk in and grab an empty seat.

Ramen Play obviously fails in a lot of department anyways, they should probably close up shop and stop their business in Singapore if your staffs cannot be bothered to "care" for a "maybe" customer and trying to turn him or her into a "definitely" customer. Fail!

1st Rakuten Purchase: Jinbei

Before I start rambling about my first online purchase from Rakuten Global, here's a little recap about moi. You see, despite my blog and my ethnicity being Chinese-Asian, I have a strong interest in anything and everything Japanese. Culture, history, trends, anime, manga, etc etc. Although I do have to admit it's like a pity that I do not work for a Japanese company. Don't get me wrong, I had my fair share for working in Japanese-originated companies but the experiences just kinda suck one way or another.

Take for example about this defunt Japanese bakery-cum-cafe that used to exist at Shaw Orchard, just directly opposite Wheelock Place back in the 1990s. I won't name the bakery-cum-cafe, but anyways, the staffs (mixture of Singapore and Malaysians) I've worked with there may seemed nice since you are still a new staff. But over time, they start to "show" their true colors. I still remember how this senior staff was always so mean to me and a few other senior staffs was speculating that since the Japanese store manager has been mollycoddling me as soon as I joined, this particular senior staff was feeling highly irritated and upset that she "fell from favour". In short, the Japanese store manager's attention was on me and not on her anymore LOL

And one fine day, she just screamed and yelled at me for no apparent reason, which to me was more than just upsetting. I just casually commented that nobody from the Level 1 Bakery side bothered to informed me that they ran out of breadcrumbs. If they do, I would have prepared a full tub for them at the earliest notice. I have absolutely no clue as to why such an innocent comment would trigger her to abuse me vocally and mentally, but at that time, I just felt she was a retarded senior. Isn't it common sense that if your department is running low on a particular item, your first reaction would be to quickly notified the person responsible for that particular item that it is running out. So that whoever's responsible would be able to prepare extra stocks in advance, no?

In short, this retarded workplace senior of mine actually scarred me a little in terms of working for another Japanese-oriented company. Although shortly later, I just kinda gave up the prospect of being a baker in favor of books. Which kinda brings me to Books Kinokuniya, my second experience at working in a Japanese-originated workplace.

Before I even contemplated on working there, I was already a regular customer at their Takashimaya flagship outlet, always going there at least once a month during my baker-trainee days to purchase books that happened to not be of the cooking variety. Everyone looked so cool in the uniform back then, which I supposed was a total bitch to wear since the pants was way too tight for me and the receptionist who gave me the uniform insisted that it fit me perfectly... I still wonder what is it with thin girls and their perception of "Oh, it fits you just well. It doesn't look too tight at all!"

Despite reading up on books on Japanese work etiquette prior to joining Books Kinokuniya, nothing prepared me for a bigger shock when I actually joined them. Books Kinokuniya back in the 1990s was a company full of cliques. And by cliques, I meant cashier department (a.k.a operations department) only mixing with cashier department staffs, english book department staffs only mixing with english book department staffs, so on and so forth. Yep, this type of "clique" I was talking about. It's like, nobody has the intention of trying to mix outside their work group at all. Which I partly attribute to the fact that most english, chinese and japanese book department staffs mostly are university graduates or hold diplomas while the cashiering and stationary staffs can actually mingle well due to our schooling background that consists of up to Secondary School education.

I initially thought that was total bullshit and tried to mingle, and let just say, I only managed to click well with at most 1 or 2 staffs from another department out of the many full and part-timers who were there. And the reason I could be on par was due to our similar interests, which was mostly manga and anime. Yep, that sounded sad for sure although I am not too sure if this is the case for them now.

Anyways, despite having such bad experiences working at Japanese-oriented/Japanese-originated companies, I still doubt these bad working experiences would dampen my interest in Japanese culture and the likes. Simply put, how they behave is entirely different from the culture itself, isn't it? So, I am still glad and happy that these working experiences doesn't make me hate Japanese culture at all. In fact, I think it strengthen my resolve to want to know more about Japan more than anything else.

Rakuten Jinbei

Speaking of which, all along I had an account with Rakuten and I wasn't even aware. Or I would have points for making this Jinbei purchase LOL Anyways, the reason why I wanted a Jinbei a.k.a Japanese sleepwear is that, most times, Singapore can be a hot and humid country during the day. But when night times, it might be a totally different story. And more than once, I found myself shivering underneath my blanket despite the weather not being all that cold

Normal sleeping pjyamas doesn't seem to work in keeping me from feeling cold at all. And I was actually a little sick of having to wake up in the dead of the night to wear extra clothing when it suddenly gets too cold without warning. Enter the Jinbei. Traditionally, Jinbei are usually worn as a form of nightwear or house wear. Although I personally find that it works well in keeping me warm when I sleep at night. The only additional extra layer I wore is a plain white T-shirt underneath the Jinbei top.

Rakuten Jinbei

And yet I do have to admit, I had a bit of trouble finding this item initially since I wasn't too sure of the exact name for it. I started off with Japanese pyjamas which kinda brought me to ordinary pyjamas and as I mentioned, pyjamas don't keep me warm at night when I sleep. In fact, I sometimes found myself looking like an over-wrapped burrito when I wake up in the morning.

Rakuten Jinbei

Here's a look at my very first Jinbei. Looks comfy huh? It's actually really comfortable to wear and I am planning on getting a few more to stock up in my wardrobe when my current one wore out. Let's just say, I find myself veering towards the Game and Hobbies department over at Rakuten cos I am a self-confessed otaku LOL

Starter Pets for Pet Meld Maxing [ESO]

NOTE: This guide is originally by iforget, I do not claim ownership for it.

First of all, you need 2 starting area pets. 1 clever Dewdrop Bunny and 1 Chimpsy Chimp of any attitude except Normal.

  • Catch one clever Dew Drop Bunny they are located near Roor the Hunter. Then from NPC near Roor, called collector Val, buy one Chimpsy Chimp. If it is Normal attitude, sell it back and buy again. Any attitude is fine as long as it is not Normal
  • Now take the Dew Drop Bunny and the Chimpsy Chimp and level them both to approximately Level 120. Take them both to the forge and place Dew Drop Bunny in first as Host Pet and Chimpsy Chimp as Support Pet
  • Click preview, if all stats: HP, INT and STR previewed as Maxed, do the meld. If they show under max on preview, level the pets up slightly more and then come back to preview again. This step just cost you, from memory, 2400 spirit
  • Now get your Redridge Hatchling and level it as high as you possibly can. The maxed out Dew Drop Bunny to be re-leveled to around Level 120
  • Then take both pets to the forge and this time, preview with the Redridge Hatchling as the Host Pet and Dew Drop Bunny as Support Pet. If all stats show maxed, do the meld. If they are below max stats, level them up some more. This step costs around 39400 spirit from memory
  • If the top box is higher then the bottom (always left side) then the pet will max on melding

Pet Maxing Guide (Hp/Str/Int + Rank) [ESO]

What happens when you do the Celestial Pet quest from Roor the Hunter and realised the free Panda Cub or Redridge Hatchling has only 2 fusion stats? Of course you don't sell or drop it at all, instead, you can use them as a pet melding tool to increase your main pet's HP, STR and INT to maxed. Read on for more info:

I see there are a few pet melding guides here already, but I'll put this in the basket anyways. Came up with this when I was experimenting with pet melding and stuff. The simplest Hp/Str/Int + Rank Maxer making technique I've come up with till date. Hope this helps in someway.

Pets Required:

  • Fierce Panda Cub or Redridge Hatchling -any elemental- (can be bought in-game from players or obtained from lv100+ daily at Roor the Hunter at pokari)
  • Bright Dewdrop Bunny -non elemental- (can be caught near Roor The Hunter in Pokari)
  • Bright Auto-Repair Android -non elemental- (can be caught in Ole Region near mines using traps that it itself drops when its killed)

First Pet Meld Preview
First Pet Meld Preview

First Meld - lv120+ Bright Dewdrop Bunny (Host) + lv120+ Fierce Panda Cub or Redridge Hatchling (Support), using Charm of Memory (Green round charm available at npc Wehn for 500 Gaap Virtue, also available on stalls for 10-20g)

Pet Meld Charm
Second Pet Meld Preview

This meld should give you a maxed HP/Str/Int Dewdrop Bunny. The level of this pet you get will be decreased to lv110 or so due to the meld, so you will need to level it again to lv120+.

AR Host Pet Meld
Final Pet Meld

Final Meld - lv120+ Bright Auto-Repair Android (Host) + lv120+ hp/str/int maxed Dewdrop Bunny from 1st Meld (Support), using Charm of Source (Orange round charm available at npc Wehn for 500 Gaap Virtue, also available on stalls for 10-20g)

Charm of the Source

This meld should give you hp/str/maxed Auto-Repair Android with rank 500+ This Auto-Repair Android is your (HP/Str/Int) + Rank Maxer Pet.

You can use this Auto-Repair Android at lv120 as support pet to max HP/Str/Int of any Host pet (which also should be lvled to lv120+).

Maxed AR Pet

As I explained in the beginning, this Maxed Auto-Repair Android is your HP/Str/Int maxer with rank 500+. This maxed Auto-Repair Android can be used for maxing any pet such as WD/Hulon Firedrake/Panda/Redridge (lv1 evo), etc. Note that the Host and Support pets lvl should be more than lv120 when doing any melds.

Vitamins for Evolving Panda Cub & Redridge Hatchling [ESO]

If you have looked around Heaven's Repository under the Pets - Training tab, you would have noticed the Advanced Vitamins · I, Advanced Vitamins · II and Advanced Vitamins · III selling at 50 e-cent, 1 E-buck and 2 E-buck respectively.

Advanced Vitamins · I
Advanced Vitamins · II
Advanced Vitamins · III

If you can afford to, of course, you would buy those to evolve your maxed Panda Cub or Redridge Hatchling. But what if you do not want to spend any EB on evolving your Celestial Egg pets and yet at the same time, do not mind taking longer to evolved it completely?

Good news! Roor the Hunter has another quest beside Celestial Egg. You get 5 tokens from Roor, where each token need you to kill 100 mobs of your level (or higher) and the rewards are Vitamin · I. Depending on your luck, you can get between 1 Vitamin · I to a few for each token fulfilled. Save all your Vitamin · I. Do you know why?

Bet you might not have thought of it. 10 Vitamin · I can be forged at the Ancestral Forge into 1 Vitamin · II. There you were thinking, why didn't I ever got Vitamin · II as a reward before? That's because we are supposed to forge them into the next level vitamin. Don't believe, see this!

Ancestral Forge

Yep, it definitely can be forged into the next level vitamin. It cost only 1 gold. Whatever gold you spend are mostly on pots to finish the quest and to evolve your pet(s) with the vitamins you already have. Sure, it takes longer than the Advanced Vitamins from Heaven's Repository. But so what? Instead of having to spend a few thousand dollars to evolved the free pet you get from Roor. What you are spending in this case is just time, effort and gold farming with a little bit of patience added in the mix. Whereas someone else have to spend a few thousand for bragging rights to show it off, you can do the same, but without spending a single cent from your bank account.

If the current rate for EB is 1 EB to, for example, 1200G. It would take more than $1000 multiplied by 1200G just to get a Stage 1 pet to evolve to Stage 2. YOu do the math and decide whether it's worth paying that much money in real life for a free pet. Or just work hard at farming gold to convert all your Vitamin · I to Vitamin II and so on.

Evolving Check

Evolving Check

Hope this helps if you happened to not want to spend too much cold hard cash to get the best stuffs in ESO =]

Extra Tip: So, you get either a fierce Panda Cub or a fierce Redridge Hatchling with stats you do not like. What do you do with it? Fret not! Rahul has made a new pet guide for maxing HP, INT and STR all in one meld and they do not involve too much pet catching in order to do. Sure, you still need bright Dewdrop Bunnies and bright Auto-Repair Androids to accomplish.

IMPORTANT: Take note that all items from the Celestial Egg are tradable and sellable. Although it's best if you do not buy a un-identified pet from Trading Realm as anyone can claimed whatever elemental affinity or how many fuse stats it has.

But fret not, this quest can be taken once everyday. And also for players who have DS/TDS gears/weapon, take note! You can actually get a Dragon Apothegm I from this quest too, although rare. Therefore, it might be better to just wait out a little if you do not intend to spend too much ebucks on spamming lotto boxes just to get a Dragon Apo I.

Dragon Apothegm

Note: This quest only have a countdown timer for 2 hours. Once 2 hours is up, you have only 30 minutes to talk to the required NPCs in order to get the quest reward(s). If you missed the 30 minute mark and the timer runs out, you'll lose that quest and the reward(s) that comes with it for the day and can only re-take it at the next immediate server reset. So take note!

If for any reason the timer countdowns past 0 minutes, eg. -10 minutes, simply relog out of your account and log back in again, not realm hop. This method should solve the timer issue if you had previously glitch yourself prior to possing and after getting this quest.

Threat of Pokari [ESO]

Location of Threat For Threat of Pokari, this involves talking to Ziola (The East Market) to accept the quest and then retrieving an item called Dangerous Items. After accepting the quest from Ziola, you will need to go to where Woodsman Roki (The West Market) is. Around him you will see various chests called Dangerous Items when you hover your mouse over it. As there are 5 such chests around Woodsman Roki, you will/might have to check and see which are the ones you can retrieve by hovering your mouse over them.

Dangerous Item

Once done, go back to Ziola (The East Market) to submit the quest. Sometimes, if you're lucky you might get this item called Anonymous Letter.

Anonymous Letter

If you don't, do not fret though. As long as you have alt(s) that are Lv60 and above, those alt(s) are eligible to pick up the quest itself. Because, this Anonymous Letter can actually be traded between players or even mailed from your alt to your main. But how do you know if you have this letter? Simple! If you're lucky, the right side of your game client screen will let you know, or alternatively, you can check your bag since this Anonymous Letter will automatically go into your bag. At this stage, take note that if you talk to Ziola and accidentally click on the 4th part of Threat of Pokari, the Anonymous Letter quest will automatically be logged onto your alt(s) quest log. And you wouldn't want that to happen if you know you need the extra EXP to level up.
