This bag won't be around forever. Unlike other plastic bags, which can take hundreds of years to degrade, this bag will have completely broken down in as little as one year once it reaches landfill. And without harming thr environment. But before that, you can reuse it as much as you like.

One of the reasons why I prefer The Body Shop more to other shops that proclaims to sell environmentally safe products...

Ichiban Sushi

Initially last week, my mother commented that "one fine day, we should go have sushi for breakfast when me and my father happened to have the day off on the same day". And being the over-zealous sushi lover, we each check out our own individual work schedule and ound out that we are both free and available on the 28th March. So, Ichiban Sushi, here we go!!

Salmon Kabuto Miso

Salmon Head Miso Soup

サ-モンかぶと味噌

Spicy Salmon Carpaccio

Salmon Sushi with Spicy Sauce

スパイシ-サ-モンカルパシチヨ

Kajiki Sashimi

Swordfish

かじき刺身

Anago Sushi

あなご寿司

Salmon being prepared on the cutting board

Waiting for more raw fish sushi to "make its appearance" on the sushi conveyor belt

Salmon Cheese Sushi (top right)

サ-モンチス寿司

Tuna Cheese Sushi (bottom left)

まぐろチス寿司

We also ordered (with pictures as we ate them faster than I could snap a photo) Chuka Iidako [Seasoned Mini Octopus] (中华いいだこ), Chuka Hotate [Seasoned Scallop] (中华ほたて) and Maguro [Tuna] Sashimi (まぐろ刺身). It has really been so many years since we last ate Maguro. The previous time, I read in the newspapers that some unscrupulous fishermonger attempted to sell raw horse meat and tried to pass them off as maguro instead. I'm definitely glad the maguro a.k.a raw horse meat didn't make its way to Singapore at all, as the last time I ever bought maguro sushi home was when I was around 19 or 20 years old (just out of school and in the working force). The only time I actually heard the word "raw horse meat"is when I am watching Japanese anime and the characters dialled to their local pizzaria for horse meat pizza. I wonder if they really sell such stuffs in Japan though?

SK Jewellery = Bling Bling Moments

My mother intended to buy a set of jewellery for her friend's daughter who will be getting married soon. (She's only 21 or 22 years old and I'm already 25...) and we ended up buying some for ourselves too. But when it was time to pay, the lady informed us that we were short of another $20 for a free SK membership. So, we hunted up and down, high and low and I ended up getting another necklace..

This 2 necklace is mine, but I can't bear to wear it though...

My mother's necklace, handpicked by me

A pearl necklace and a pair of pearl earrings that is to be given as a wedding gift.

We got a complimentary (read: free) small metallic teddy bear table clock. Runs on battery.

The SK membership card, which is free when you spend a minimum of $300.

Checking out the receipts and what it actually says..

Lift Upgrading Programme

Yes, the "dreaded" LUP (Lift Upgrading Programme) that is going on right now. The good part is that there will now be lifts on every level, and the bad part? They're doing the drilling and hammering and giving me more migraines than usual...

The Bangladeshi workers have already drilled away the old surface of the cement floor for some new glossy tiles. No, not like Changi Airport Terminal 3 where your undies will get flashed!!

The much anticipated lift, the other lift on the left has been dismantled. The other 2 new lifts on either side of the block are very prone to breaking down, one at a time...

Getting the tiles, sand and cement all ready and waiting at one corner...

The LUP started when I was still working at Pacific Coffee and those were the most irritating, sleep-deprived moments of my life. My boss really don't dare to let any staff take over the permanent graveyard (night) shift at the airport, especially at branches which sees a heavy morning/breakfast crowd. So, in other words, I became the "scapegoat" (read: trusted employee) and worked the nite shift while I sleep in the day. (No wonder my complexion looked like a ghost..) And basically, the workers can only do the drilling and hammering in the day-time, so my sleep was disturbed very greatly and I kept falling sick all the time. And lately, my mother found out that those residents who were living on the 6th and 11th floor need not pay a single cent for the LUP, whereas the rest of the residents who are not living on the 6th and 11th floor had to. And the reason? These 2 floors already had an existing lift in the first place, so residents who lived on the 6th and 11th floor are sort of "not considered" for the LUP programme. But nonetheless, they still have to use the lifts anyway. So, it should be fair that they should pay some sort of fee, albeit less than the rest of the residents who have to pay like brain-washed zombies. Damn, stupid government!!

Chinatown Sight Seeing Part II

You can check out my previous post on Chinatown sight seeing for the first part too if you want to know more about Chinatown during daytime..

Chinatown Complex: Revisited Again for the same food, same stall, same price!!

Hong Kong Mongkok Tim Sum [香港旺角点心], which I don't understand why so many people are queuing up to buy when they only sell like 4 or 5 items on the menu board?? It's not really that delicious anyway...

Apparently, only 3 people are required to run the stall. It's a self-service stall by the way..

115 Dessert Stall [115糖水] which is a couple of units away from the Hong Kong Mongkok Tim Sum stall..

I recommend the peanut paste [花生糊], as it's really smooth and creamy and the taste won't bog you down too. Even non-peanut fans will be convinced!!

A testament as to how yummy the desserts are... My father have to ordered three different bowls of dessert whenever we came here to eat.

Wei Ji Yun Tun Noodle Stall [威记云吞面] which is just diagonally opposite Hong Kong Mongkok Tim Sum Stall [香港旺角点心]. For this stall, I specially recommend the raw fish noodle [生鱼面]. No, it's not just ordinary raw fish like salmon or maguro. In the old original Chinatown complex, there's this porridge stall that sells porridge and it always goes well with a particular type of raw fish called 西刀鱼. That is the raw fish used in their raw fish noodle. The noodles are cooked and served up with raw fish and sliced lettuce. You just mixed up the plate of noodles and the heat from the noodles will "cook" the raw fish along the way. This particular type of fish can be enjoyed both raw and cooked, but I like mine raw..

North East Line (NEL) Outram Park MRT. This MRT station looked alien to me, in a way that way back in the past, there wasn't any NEL at all. All that was sitting there is just a patch of grass...

S'ban Siew Pau a.k.a King of Siew Pau [烧包之王]. Just directly opposite the old (and currently renovated) Chinatown Complex, they sell really yummy Portugese egg tarts too. I like the almond tarts, but they could have use more unmashed almonds for the tart though.

Siew paus and tarts galore... What a tarty affair!!

The spiral carpark which leads to the Chinatown Complex food stalls and market (wet and dry). I'm surprised I never got "cock-eyed" after my uncle drove us up and down so many times when I was little...

Just a few units away from the stall selling Siew Paus and tarts are a whole long row od shophouses selling old chinese knick-knacks which only our grandfathers and grandmothers will know the purpose it is created and used for..

And up close shot of the compass.

Cheap handphone accesories that I am very sure no young citizens of Singapore would want to hang, much less go near it...

Yes, this is the much "talked about" food street which I have warned tourists not to have their meals at. It's cramped, it's not that yummy and it's definitely expensive. And it's situated just below Chinatown Complex, hoping to cash in on that pie too. Unscrupulous!!

Parting shot: There will be a Part III coming soon. There's this awesome building near Chinatown Complex, which house Buddha/Buddhist relics and apparently, the roof top can be accessed by visitors. I couldn't get to take any photos as my battery power ran out and it was also getting late in the afternoon too. And a note of mention: all these photos were taken using a camera-phone, not any digital camera. Too poor to afford one...

Chong Pang 忠邦

Chong Pang [忠邦] is also another place for great food too. There this stall we always go to for the pig organ soup and other side dishes. It's definitely well worth the money spent as the food is delicious and my mother is absolutely sure no one else ordered that much food like we do...

We have already placed the order and now, we are waiting for the food to "show up", one by one...

Preserved (or pickled) vegetables, my favourite.

A feast... don't disturb me now, I'm eating...

A sundry goods store selling babies and toddlers clothes...

It's not really a real big milk bottle. It's actually a coin bank shaped like a milk bottle.

Colored straws. When I was little, I wished I could have these, and now here I am thinking, "What in the HELL am I thinking at that time??"

Neighbourhood Confectionary shop, really beautiful and colorful display, but loaded with lots of fresh cream to make you put on weight.

Buns. Yours or mine, I wonder??

In the end, we couldn't resist buying some home to eat.

Yes, the "showers of blessings" again.

One of the statue fixtures at Chong Pang.

If I can't wake up to go to Chong Pang for a meal, my mother simply bring home a packet of food from this stall. And right beside this is a stall selling fresh soya beancurd and soya milk. Really cheap and not so sickeningly sweet to cause diabetes..

A bowl of soya beancurd costing $0.50.

A cup of soya milk costing $1.00.

It was still raning when I reached home, so I had to call my mother for help.

Just simply walking in the rain, and I don't know the guy on the left. He just happened to shift into my camera view.

If I'm the one who was caught in the rain, how come my mother is the one who got wet??
